Another Boys Hoodie Ruined
I should have known my boy was going to ruin that shirt. We’ve gone through (what seems like) hundreds of baby hoodies since he’s been here, each one a new artistic endeavor to see how much food can MISS his mouth. The boy likes to eat and it shows, so it’s really amazing when you see baby clothes or the boys hoodies he owns and how stained they still are.
No laundry detergent has as of yet figured out how to get them completely clean. Trust me, I’ve tried.
So today’s adventure? We decided to go to the park on an unnaturally sunny day. We’ve been feeling a little cooped up in the house since the bad weather, so getting out to play with other kids (free babysitting!) seemed like something that would help the both of us feel a little less cabin fever.
Once we got to the park, it seems that my little one had forgotten just how much fun it was and ran up to the slide as though it were a long lost friend. I was laughing and trying to keep up with him as I saw him slide down HEAD FIRST.
Before I could even get out a ‘You’re going to hurt yourself,’ he’d made it to the bottom and was covered chin to shoes in dirt. His hoodie, his jacket, and even his socks were dirty. Even on the inside.
I felt my face get red as the other parents started to laugh at his muddy smile. But he was having the time of his life, so what could I do? One of the moms is not one of my favorites and I tried to will my son to hug her daughter to get that princess dirty too, but I restrained myself.
As we were walking home, my son turned to me and said, “Can we come back tomorrow?”
I smiled, thinking to myself, Sure, we can come back, assuming you still have clean clothes to wear. Sigh.
